Piano Whiz Kids studio

The Piano Whiz Kids studio is organizing a summer citywide music project called ENCORE for young pianists in the neighborhood. The project is for any young pianists age 8 – 16 at 3 performance levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Three sets of repertoires will be provided for the young pianists to learn individually for 3 months, and practice via Zoom together during the summer. The repertoire is as follows:

Beginners:

  1. Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee
  2. Simple Gifts

Intermediate:

  1. Clementi’s Sonatina in C Major (with accompaniment arrangement)

Advanced Intermediate:

  1. Libertango

Advanced:

  1. Stars and Stripes Forever
  2. Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in g minor

Starting in June, the project will consist of ten online lessons, followed by a concert. These opportunities will be provided to the first 15 qualified inquiries.

  • Lesson 1:  Assessment of level and assignment of ensemble piece
  • Lesson 2:  Sight reading of repertoire assigned and ensemble skills
  • Lessons 3 – 7 Learning and perfecting the performance of the repertoire assigned
  • Lessons 8-10 Zoom sessions for ensemble rehearsals
  • Fee for the program: $250 for 10 sessions. Payment via Zelle to 832-331-6851

At the end of summer, a worldwide virtual concert will be presented via Zoom. The concert will also be performed at a prestigious venue in Houston early Fall, with world renowned artists and Texas dignitaries presenting commemorative trophies to participating young pianists. This is a great way to introduce or re-introduce your children to the joy of ensemble music and be a part of a memorable  project for summer 2020.
